Arsenal to erect Serge Gnabry statue outside Emirates Stadium

Following Bayern Munich's 7-2 humiliation of Tottenham Hotspur in this year's Champions League group stages, in which former Arsenal player Serge Gnabry scored four goals, the Gunners have announced they will immortalise the striker with a bronze statue outside the club's stadium.

Though the 24-year-old left the London club back in 2016 to go to German club Werder Bremen for a paltry fee of £5million, Arsenal now claim the German is an 'Arsenal legend' and should be considered in the same vain as Dennis Bergkamp or Thierry Henry.

"We knew he would come good one day", a club representative said. "We did let him go, yes, but that shouldn't factor into whether or not he's a club legend.

"Anyone who bags four goals against Spurs is a hero of ours and I'm sure the fans will agree."

Former manager Arsène Wenger, who allowed Gnabry to go back to Germany those three years ago, had this to say:

"I managed him once, you know. Right around the time I almost signed Lionel Messi."

Work on the statue has reportedly already begun.
