Man Utd offer £40m and Phil Jones to get rid of Phil Jones

Manchester United have made a fascinating start to their transfer business this summer, offering £40million plus Phil Jones to any club willing to take Phil Jones.

The 28-year-old has fallen out of favour since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over as manager at the end of 2018, and the Norwegian is keen to offload Jones and his wacky faces this summer at any cost.

According to a source, Solskjaer, known in his playing days as the "baby-faced assassin", has been trying to get rid of Jones for over a year and after earning a third-place finish in the Premier League immediately told chief executive Ed Woodward to "get rid of that useless, window-licking clown or I'm leaving".

Solskjaer has demanded that Woodward offer at least £40million to any club willing to take the England defender off United's hands. Early rumours indicate that newly relegated League One side Wigan Athletic, who were recently placed into administration, are interested in taking the deal, so long as Jones isn't expecting first team football.
