Sterling viciously ATTACKS Joe Gomez during guard of honour

Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling interrupted his club's guard of honour for Liverpool earlier to have a second swipe at his old foe, Joe Gomez.

Liverpool were confirmed as Premier League champions when Man City lost to Chelsea last week, and as is tradition, the Sky Blues agreed to give Jurgen Klopp's side a guard of honour before their next game.

But what was initially a kind, if defeated, gesture from last year's champions turned to chaos when Sterling broke formation to leap at defender Joe Gomez like a demented velociraptor, scratching and clawing at his face before being carried away by a flustered Kevin De Bruyne.

It's not the first time the pair have clashed, with Sterling apparently putting the much bigger Gomez in a headlock in the canteen at England's training ground last year and leaving a kitten-like scratch from his eye to his neck.

Thankfully, there were no physical wounds this time, only some further damage to Sterling's reputation. With no crowd at the game due to the coronavirus pandemic, Sterling's cries and high-pitched screams could be heard by millions watching at home and are sure to be a source of memes for many years to come.
